Michigan State University Suspends Coach Mel Tucker Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Michigan State University announced on Sunday that head football coach Mel Tucker has been suspended without pay
during his fourth season with the program, following allegations of sexual misconduct.
MSU Vice President and Athletic Director Alan Haller made the announcement during an impromptu news conference,
stating that the suspension is an interim measure while the investigation continues.
The allegations came to light after Brenda Tracy, a rape survivor and prominent activist,
accused Tucker of making sexual comments and engaging in inappropriate behavior during
a phone call in April 2022 while she was working with the Spartans on advocacy.
A USA TODAY investigation published on Sunday revealed the details of the allegations,
with Tucker acknowledging the phone call but claiming it was consensual 'phone sex.
